On September 12, 2010, the MTV Video Music Awards aired live to a world-wide audience. Behind the lighting was LD Tom Kenny who used 60 VLX Wash, 150 VL3000 Spot, 70 VL3500 Wash FX, 200 VL3500 Wash, 40 VL2500 Spot, and 40 VL500 Arc Wash Luminaires, to bring the show to life. Additional crew members included Set Designer Florian Weider, Gaffers Mike Grimes and Ronnie Skopac, Programmers Mike Appel and Dan Boland, and Techs Jason Livingston and John Ellar.
Grilling on the 4th of July
We all know that grilling is serious work, but doing it on the 4th of July with a house full of hungry guests requires some additional battle gear to make it all go right. Walt Disney World Tech Training
Technical Trainer Todd Kessler recently competed a VARI*LITE luminaire training course at Disney World in Orlando, FL. During the 3-day course, Kessler provided the technical team with the latest technical and maintenance information for the VLX Wash, VL3000 Spot, VL3500 Spot, VL2500 Spot and Wash, and the VL500 Wash luminaires which are all being used throughout the theme park.

On a recent trip to New Mexico, Vari-Lite RSM Leo Miller stopped by the Santa Fe Opera for a product demo with the VLX Wash and VL3500 Wash luminaires.

Aerosmith in Holland
On a recent trip to Holland, lighting designer Bryan Hartley took a moment to snap a shot with Philips Vari-Lite RSM Ray Whitton who was traveling on vacation. On this leg of the tour, Flashlight supplied Bryan with a rig full of VARI*LITE luminaires consisting of VL3000 Spot and VL3500 Wash fixtures to make a fantastic show.
DWR Makes Massive VARI*LITE Sale
Philips Vari-Lite South African distributor, DWR Distribution, has delivered the sale of 120 VARI*LITE luminaires to Gearhouse Splitbeam, the theatre lighting division specialist of the Gearhouse South Africa Group of Companies. The deal was co-ordinated by Gearhouse Splitbeam's Alistair Kilbee and DWR's Duncan Riley and is the largest sale of VAR*LITE fixtures to date in South Africa, and also the first purchase of the premium brand by Gearhouse.
